His Highness Sheikh Rashed Bin Humaid Nuaimi, President of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, chaired lately a meeting of Ajman University of Science & Technology. The meeting was attended by all board members namely Dr. Ali bin Rashed Nuaimi, Mr. Osama Salman and Mr. Thamer Salman.
The board discussed a number of issued most notably the project of establishing a model school in Ajman. In the meeting, Mr. Anthony Cashin, the founding principal of the school, presented a progress report of the project in which he detailed on the work progress in building construction, curriculum building and staffing.
Late last year, the board of directors had approved to build a school that will be a beacon of primary education in the northern emirates, using English as the primarily medium of instruction with great emphasis on Arabic language and Islamic education. The school will be equipped with the latest educational tools, IB-accredited teachers, and top facilities and equipment to ensure an enriching and successful education experience for students.
The school is supervised academically by Ajman University of Science & Technology which is one of the leading higher education institutions in the UAE and the region. With 23 years of experience AUST has successfully demonstrated how to adopt the world's latest educational systems while preserving lofty values and traditions of the UAE society.
The new school will be named AJAC for Ajman Academy; it will use the IB curriculum, an internationally recognized pre-university curriculum offered by the International Baccalaureate Organization.
The board viewed the progress report of the school building which adopts the highest standard of efficiency, quality and safety, which, in term, will be an integrated top quality school that combines harmoniously between English and Arabic so as to cater for a new generation of Emirati leaders. AJAC will offer top-of-the range purpose-build classrooms, indoor gyms, indoor swimming pool, and outdoor sports fields, with great emphasis on IT integration in all phases of the education process.
As planned, construction will be completed in the second semester of this year to allow for the first batch of students during the 2012-2013 school entry.
