Eminent Architect Tom Wiscombe Lectures at Ajman University
As part of Ajman University of Science and Technology (AUST)’s keenness for breaking down barriers with business community and drawing on international expertise to further improve student academic achievement, AUST College of Engineering recently received internationally-renowned architect Tom Wiscombe, Professor at Southern California Institute of Architecture and Visiting Assistant Professor at Yale University in the United States. Professor Wiscombe delivered a general lecture, presenting his own theory of modern design and some of his latest projects.
In implementation of AUST’s Tutoring standard which integrates both theory and practice, a five-day architectural workshop was held under the supervision of Tom Wiscombe in person. Participants in this workshop designed a call centre, an exhibition venue and a meeting hall for a site in Sharjah.
Commenting on this event, Professor Jihad Awad, Head of Architectural Engineering Department at AUST, said “this workshop is the sixth in a series of architectural and professional workshops which are annually offered by the Department in cooperation with leading world-class architects and designers.” At the end, the workshop participants were awarded certificates of appreciation signed by Architect Tom Wiscombe and Professor Fahar Hayati, Dean of the College of Engineering.
