AUST Holds Workshop on Communication and Business

As part of the training program designed for AUST students, faculty and staff, Ajman University of Science & Technology organized a training workshop for students and graduates on the roles of communication and business entitled “From the Classroom to the Work Office.” The workshop took place in Sheikh Zayed Center for Exhibitions and Conferences and was facilitated by Mrs. Noor Khouri, certified trainer and executive manager of Finishing Touches. The 2-day event was organized by AUST Department of Community Service in conjunction with the Alumni Association.

The workshop discussed several topics, namely students’ involvement in the community, etiquette, communication roles in the professional milieu, interview skills, as well as the main steps and tips for CV writing, public speaking, and etiquette of professional meetings.

On her presentation on etiquette trainer Khouri emphasized that a number of rules exist in any given culture which define human relationships, noting that we need to understand and respect these rules especially in a multi-cultural environment. She defined etiquette as the suitable way of behaving in social groups which help the individual builds amicable relations which such groups. She detailed on the skills of communication and stressed out the importance of greetings in our everyday life, saying that greeting has been and is always the basic and most fundamental step for any good human relationship.

In the last day of the workshop, attendance certificates were handed out to participants. A thank you gift was also given to trainer Noor Khouri who expressed her appreciation to the University for caring about its students and helping them be market-ready.
