Alumni Association and SANID hold a joint training on Emergency Support

Ajman University’s Alumni Association and SANID Program held recently a joint training session on Emergency Support.

The training, which was attended by 50 graduates, took place on-campus, in Sheikh Zayed Center for Exhibitions & Conference. Two SANID licensed trainers Mrs. Mona Saleh Al-Shwihi and Mr. Amer Shihada introduced the participants to SANID program which is a robust volunteer emergency response created to reinforce the national emergency relief response during large-scale crises and disasters and provide support to existing emergency response organizations. SANID, which means “support” in Arabic, provides citizens and residents of the UAE with the knowledge and skills to become involved in crisis situations and contribute to the safety of their fellow citizens. The program builds on the strengths of proven international models, particularly the Swedish Civil Defence League and the US Citizen Corps.

The main topic addressed in this session included Community Readiness, Risk Prevention, Basics of First Aid, Basics of Fire Safety and Traffic Safety.

Dr. Ahmed Ankit, Assistant to the University President for External relations, congratulated the participating graduates and extended AUST appreciation to SANID trainers, Ms. Mona Saleh Al-Shwihi & Mr. Amer Shihada, who were honored at the end of the training by Ms. Rana Kalam, in charge of the Alumni Association.

Given the excellent turnout and positive feedback of participants, the alumni association is now planning a First Aid Level 2 course, scheduled for the beginning of next academic year.
