College of Dentistry, Fujairah Campus, Participated in 23rd International Congress IALM

College of Dentistry at Ajman University of Science &Technology, Fujairah Campus participated in the 23rd Congress of International Academy of Legal Medicine (IALM), Dubai. It was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council. The congress was successfully hosted by Dubai Police at the Sheikh Maktoum Hall, Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre of World Trade Centre.

The IALM Congress is conducted every three years. The event is organized to bring the international forensic field experts together to provide the opportunity to discuss, collaborate and share their scientific knowledge and technical skills related to the field of Legal Medicine.

College of Dentistry students represented at the congress among many universities from around the world and gained knowledge from the workshops conducted by IALM and Dubai Police. Students’ active discussions during the scientific sessions were appreciated. The recent technologies in the forensic field were explained by world renowned professors especially from dental and medical professions.

Ajman University represented with a poster presentation by Dr. Sivan Priya, under the topic “Forensic Odontology- Recent Advances and Future Hopes”, which was discussed and appreciated by Dubai police forensic professionals. Experts from many countries were interacted during the discussion of forensic dentistry.

The self-experience gained by the students during the successful three days of congress was informative, enlightening and made them to improve their level in the discipline of legal medicine. The highlights of the scientific discussions were forensic dental identification, crime detection, Finger prints, Dental age estimation, DNA and molecular biology in identification, anthropology and dental negligence and malpractice.
