CPR Course for Nursing Staff at Ajman University

Nursing staff at the College of Dentistry, Ajman University of Science & Technology took a course in Cardiopulmonary resuscitation “CPR”. Dr. Kamis Gaballah, Associate Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery delivered the course.

The course outlined the steps of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and how to initiate the process of recovery. The participants were also briefed about the signs and symptoms of the patient that should be taken into consideration.

Cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an important skill necessary to rescue victims of sudden cardiac arrest.  The first minutes of a patient’s life after an injury, are critical and crucial to their survival. Therefore, it is necessary to act as soon as cardiac arrest occurs, before the arrival of an ambulance. It was highlighted that the fact that 80% of cardiac arrest cases, as indicated by medical research, occur at homes, away from hospitals and healthcare personnel, hence this course; with a goal to train as many community members as possible.
