The college of Education and Basic Sciences at Ajman University of Science and Technology held the second educational forum entitled “Smart Training Systems: Technology of Integration and Integration of Technology”

The event was attended by Professor Dr. Ahmad Ankit, Assistant to the University President for external relations, Dr. Bashir Shehada, the assistant to the University President for follow-up and development affairs, Professor Zein Al Abdin Rizk, General Manager of Intellectual and Academic Reference Authority. Professor Dr. Ibrahim Gherfal, Dean, College of Education and Basic Sciences, faculty members, the other College Deans, administrative staff and the students of both Ajman and Fujairah Campus.

The event was initiated by a welcome speech by Professor Ahmed Ankit, wherein he welcomed the audience to this prestigious event organized by the College of Education. He elucidated, “Some would assume that the importance of educational technology is synonymous with the importance of teaching aids while in fact there is a big difference between them as Educational Aids are only a part of the Technology of Education. Accordingly, the Technology of Education is broader and more inclusive than Educational Aids. There is the perceptual awareness where graphs and figures play an important role in making the written word clearer for the student as well as to aid understanding. While enabling the student to learn specific skills such as the correct pronunciation of words in addition to training students on organized thinking, problem solving, developing a language inventory and the positive attitude forwards that language. At last, I would like to wish you success at this event”.

Prof. Dr. Gherfal, Dean, College of Education welcomed the guests saying “Ajman University adopted a special philosophy of education which is taken on by the College of Education and Basic Sciences through taking care of helping students learn and develop intellectually and affectively and keep in touch with the revolutions in the field of information and communication. It also works on breaking the barriers between the university and the workforce.

Furthermore, the College shoulders the responsibility of providing students with the best instructional strategies by competent instructors who set a model for their students with their deep knowledge, skill and work ethics, so that students will be able to develop teaching strategies themselves and make positive changes in the field of education as well as in society as a whole.

The College has academic programs through which it seeks to achieve its targets. These programs are drawing on the previous experiences as the best is chosen to be the basis of quality standards. The teaching is adapted to satisfy the needs of the society in the UAE and its values. It focuses on implementing modern teaching styles using Educational Technologies both virtually and practically. This enables it to create an environment of educational creativity, to meet the high expectations of students and to help them to become qualified teachers of primary, middle and secondary stages in many specializations.

According to its mission, the college is after preparing future teachers who are equipped with knowledge, skills, which enable them to be resourceful and fully use technology and its applications.

The forum included a discussion panel entitled “Smart Training Systems” chaired by the Dean and presented by both Dr. Basim Al Samaraii, the head of the Educational Sciences Dept.” and Dr. Hatem Al Qudah , a Faculty Member at Al Fujairah Campus.

Moreover, a number of workshops were held and presented by Faculty Members under the following headings:

-          “Modern Training Styles” By Dr. Sami Al-Qatawneh and Dr. Rasha Abdullah.

-          “Learner-Centered Teaching” by Dr. Najah Al Ramahi

-          “Layered Instruction: An Instruction Personalized to Learners’ needs” by Dr. Randa Abdou Soliman, Head of TEFL Dept.

-          “Training Strategies” By MS Enas Khalil, In Charge Of Practical Training

-          “Educational Technology Applications for Teachers” by Dr. Mohammed Magzoub.

-          “Training Styles on Critical Thinking” by Dr. Mohammed Attia.

-          “Applications of IPads in Teaching” by MS Basma Thrwat.

At the closure of the forum, distinguished students, trainees, instructors and presenter were awarded with certificates. Prof. Dr. Ankit, Prof. Dr. Zein Al Abdin and Prof. Dr. Gherfal presented trophies, certificates and presents to the organizers of the forum Ms. Enas Khalil In charge Of Practical Training, Ms. Ghada Al-Masri and Ms. Amani Mustafa.
