Originally from Montreal, Dr. Kelvin Afrashtehfar is a Canadian dental specialist with dual academic affiliation. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Clinical Sciences Department at Ajman University, UAE, and an Associate Researcher in the Department of Reconstructive Dentistry and Gerodontology at the University of Bern, Switzerland. His postgraduate clinical training includes a specialty in Prosthodontics and a subspecialty fellowship in Implant Dentistry. His fellowship mentors were Prof. em. Dr. U. Brägger, Prof. em. Dr. D. Buser, and Prof. em. Dr. U. Belser. This experience permits him to encourage students to pursue clinical excellence, develop their critical thinking skills, and work systematically at a satisfactory level of accuracy and become more efficient. His research training totals 3 degrees from Canada and Switzerland. His research supervisors were Prof. Dr. F. Tamimi, Prof. em. Dr. U. Brägger, Dr. R. Bryant, and Dr. S. Abi-Nader. This strength allows him to provide students the experience of conducting sound research. Dr. Kelvin has been granted multiple prestigious American and Canadian awards. His publications are frequently referenced in oral presentations by Journal Editors. Dr. Kelvin participates as an Editorial Board Member for high reputable journals in oral rehabilitation, such as The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry. He is an ITI Fellow and a Fellow-Elect in Prosthodontics of The Royal College of Dentists of Canada (RCDC). Up to date, Dr. Kelvin holds an international record of having lectured in every continent. Most notoriously, Dr. Kelvin is a Scientific Team Member of a Swiss University, which is listed as #9 in the QS World University Rankings for Dentistry. His current research focuses on implant surgery, digital technologies, aesthetic dentistry, evidence-based dentistry, and clinical dental education.
