AU Launches Bachelor of Science in Building Engineering & Construction Management

Ajman University has received the approval of the Commission for Academic Accreditation of the Ministry of Education to introduce Bachelor of Science in Building Engineering & Construction Management program within the Faculty of Engineering, in addition to its programs in electrical engineering and its various branches, Biomedical engineering, Architecture and Interior design.

Dr. Khalid Al Saleh, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, explained that Ajman University's undergraduate program in Building Engineering & Construction Management comes from the University's keenness to keep up with the demands of the local, regional and international different engineering fields. Dr. Khalid Al Saleh also pointed out that the aim of this program is to support the job market with graduates qualified to join the construction sector from the planning and design stages of the project through the stages of requirements preparation and implementation bearing in mind the ability to supervise a project until completion.

"A graduate of this program will be able and eligible to develop rehabilitation programs for old buildings to meet modern requirements, so as to preserve the environment, energy, sustainability, application of current standards and introduction of modern specifications related to smart applications," said Dr. Khalid Al Saleh.

Dr. Khalid pointed out that registration in Bachelor of Science in Building Engineering & Construction Management is currently open and will begin with the beginning of the first semester of the academic year 2018-2019. Adding that the program enjoys the quality and sensitivity of the university.

Dr. Fahr Hayati, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, confirmed that a graduate who holds a bachelor's degree in Building Engineering & Construction Management would be qualified to take an active role in the engineering job market, budgeting from human and material resources. This degree allows those applying for jobs in the reconstruction and restoration of old buildings as well as the construction of new buildings. They can also employ their expertise in various service facilities such as roads, bridges, ports, mechanical and industrial installations, etc. in addition to surveying, quantity calculation and setting specifications.

Dr. Hayati explained that this program consists of 142 credit hours; during which students will be given the experience to be able to work in new areas specialized in the field of sustainability aimed at reducing the impact of human activity in building on the environment.
