AU Students Shine at Global Competitions

Students of electrical and biomedical engineering at the College of Engineering and Information Technology, Ajman University, have shined at the 11th annual University Research Conference on Applied Computing 2019 recently held at Zayed University.

AU students Mohammed Ait Kassem, Saif Al-Din Al-Ghalayni, Muaiyad Hafez and Ahmed Hisham were recognized for the best live: “Smart Assistive Glasses for Alzheimer's Patients”, a project supervised Dr. Mustahsan Mir and Eng. Wessam Shehieb.

The best research poster was awarded to students Ali Mohammad Reza, Peter Yacoub and Khaled Blouna for their project "Smart Facial Rehabilitation System" supervised by Prof. Kamran Arshad and Eng. Wessam Shehieb.

The best poster prize was presented to Syed Mohammad Remishi, Muhannad Raafat, Mahmoud Al Sayed and Mohammed Sheikh for their project: "The Biometric Attendance System Supported by School Bus Road Maps" supervised by Dr. Hassan Zaidan and Eng. Khalid Mahfouz.

Ten teams of Ajman University participated in the conference which featured 161 research projects, 4 presentations on current topics, 13 live presentations, 15 quick presentations and 129 posters.

Seven AU student teams managed to secure the first and third positions in a “24-hour Hackathon” organized by the Ministry of Infrastructure Development on the sidelines of the conference under the theme: "Internet of Things for the Development and Assistance of Infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates".

Khalid Al-Balloonah, Alaa Harba and Mohammed Al Huraibi won the first place for their "Electronic Alerts" project, while Eng. Khaled Mahfouz, Saifuddin Al-Dandan and Mohamed Klob ranked third for their "Cold Wheels" project.

The conference is aimed to promote research activity among university students in the UAE, GCC countries and the Arab world by providing them with a platform to present their work and interact with other participants of young researchers, faculty members and industry leaders.
