Erum Khan

Dr. Erum Khan; Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh (FRCPE) and an honors graduate of Masters in Health Professions Education (MHPE) , is one of the pioneers in the region to lead the initiative of fully integrating simulation based medical education across the entire continuum of the undergraduate medical curriculum at the Gulf Medical University (GMU), Ajman, U.A.E, where she worked for over 12 years. Following this she lead the simulation education and faculty development program at Mohamed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dubai, U.A.E. from 2017-2019. She played an instrumental role in setting up the first state of the art Clinical Skills Lab in U.A.E in 2007, the first Innovative Center for Advanced Simulation in Healthcare in U.A.E in 2014, the first American Heart Association Center for Life Support Training in Northern Emirates, U.A.E in 2011 and the first RCPE affiliated site in U.A.E to offer RCPE Online Education Programs (Evening Medical Updates and Symposia) in 2016. She has worked in various competent capacities for the College of Medicine at GMU including member of Medical Education Unit, Curriculum Committee, Assessment Committee, Quality Assurance and Program Evaluation committee. She lead the initiative of community service and outreach program by the center through teaching hundreds of high school students to save lives by performing early and effective CPR on cardiac arrest victims at different schools across U.A.E as a volunteer. She aspires to collaborate with international institutes and like-minded scholars to further the research and development in the field of In-situ clinical simulation and its best practices. Dr. Khan has won noble awards in the field of research and development in clinical simulation and medical education by presenting and publishing her scholarly work in regional and international conferences. She is a highly decorated and awarded faculty at the university; appreciated by peers and students alike for her modesty, enthusiasm, dedication and hard work.
