Commencement Ceremony of “Class of Year of Innovation” under the Patronage of Ajman Ruler

Higher education in the UAE is gaining increasing international prominence thanks to the adoption of international best practices and implementation of the UAE wise leadership's vision for building a well-educated and enlightened human being, H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Ajman and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Ajman University of Science and Technology (AUST), said in his keynote address to the 24th commencement ceremony under the slogan " Class of Year of Innovation".

''It has not been possible for our university to earn this prestigious stature in a short span of time without the unwavering and full support from our wise leadership, represented in President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Supported by Their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of Emirates, the UAE leadership has always encouraged creative initiatives, removing any obstacles on the path, celebrating distinguished contributions, valuing every good act, and catalysing innovative male and female students,'' HH said.

The ceremony was  attended by His Highness Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, Chairman of the Executive Council, Sheikh Ahmed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Ruler's Representative for Administrative and Financial Affairs and Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Tourism Development Department, Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Municipality and Planning Department ceremony.

The ceremony was held at Sheikh Zayed Centre for Conferences and Exhibitions. An also present were His Excellency Hussein bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Majid Bin Saeed Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Amiri Diwan. Senior officials and  members of the Board of Trustees of the university and the heads and directors of government departments. Along with College Deans, faculty members and parents.

''This day provides a strong confirmation and a shining example that AUST constitutes one of the most important innovative academic and intellectual institutions not only in Ajman and the UAE, but also at the Arab, regional and international levels,'' HH said, noting that AUST has come a long way in excellence, prominence and active presence in events within the UAE and abroad.

"Maintaining good relations with other counterparts, AUST has been on a persistent quest for modernisation in specialisations and the learning environment, which placed it in a prominent standing in the rankings of higher education providers. Attracting the elite of best academia, AUST has established itself as a favourite destination for students from across the world,'' he added.

HH stressed, "The graduate is a dynamic force and fuel for social movement and our future investment rests on the graduate for whom we will be the driver for projected development. Higher education outcomes should also fulfil our economic and social requirements in addition to sharpening our competitive edge regionally and internationally by provision of high quality education services, graduation of qualified competencies who are loyal to the nation and its leadership, responsible and conscious of their duties of protecting national genuine values and traditions."

''We have strong confidence in the university's role in unlocking potentials of intellectual creativity and scientific innovation in our children so as to keep pace with the modern age.'' HH said.

Congratulating the graduates, Sheikh Humaid said graduation is the first building block in their professional career and shifting from theoretical to practical life so as to achieve their aspirations.

The 24th batch included of 1462 male and female graduates of 47 different nationalities.

This year’s was named "Class of Year of Innovation" in recognition and in upholding the spirit of innovation. Earlier this year the leadership of United Arab Emirates declared 2015 as the Year of innovation and Ajman University pays tribute to the numerous inventions and limitless creativity of Ajman University students.
