Preserving Intellectual Property Rights Workshop at Ajman University

In collaboration with the College of Law, the Career Counseling Center organized a workshop entitled “Intellectual Property.” The workshop was attended by Ajman University graduates and expected graduates.

The keynote speakers were Dr. Mostafa Abu Al Ainain, Civil Law Assistant Professor, Ajman University and Dr. Nasr Abu El Futouh, Civil Law Assistant Professor, Ajman University. In addition to the team participating in Dubai Customs Intellectual Property competition.

The workshop outlined the definition of Intellectual properties, distinguished the general rights and the intellectual property rights along with comparing industrial patent and intellectual property. The workshop also identified the digital intellectual property categories. The other topics were the invention patents, industrial blueprints, the rights of the author or inventor and the rights of digital branding.

30 students and graduates attending the workshop were actively engaged in the subject matter through the use of interactive tools like videos, and skits elaborating on the issues of intellectual property, plagiarism, and cheating.

Students were also acquainted with regulations that protect different intellectual property and personal property rights; i.e. scientific discoveries, art concepts, literature, novel rights, and distinction between analogue and digital rights and their brandings.

Attendees acknowledged the importance of such workshops that should be delivered to law students as well as other community members. Dr. Ahmed Ankit, Assistant to President for External Relations concluded the workshop by commending Dr. Abu Alainian and Dr. Abulfutouh and thanking the participants for attending the workshop.
