Ajman Ruler Decrees Name Change for Ajman University
At the meeting of the Board of trustees of Ajman University of Science and Technology, it was decreed that the name of the University would henceforth be “Ajman University”.
The meeting was chaired by His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Ajman and Chairman of Board of Trustees also gracing the meeting was His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Vice-Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Executive Committee along with other members.
During the meeting, they also endorsed the results of the spring semester, first summer and second summer semesters of the academic year 2015-2016, amongst other adoptions of the Executive Committees decisions. They also formed a committee for the operations of the Thamer Fund for Educational Solidarity at Ajman University, which will be independently audited.
The new organizational structure of Ajman University was also endorsed, headed by the newly appointed Chancellor Dr. Karim Seghir, who was earlier the Dean of the School of Business in American University of Cairo.
His Highness the Ruler of Ajman initiated the meeting and welcomed the board of trustee members, he praised their role and efforts in the development of Ajman University and its strategic plan. He praised the role of employees both academic and administrative at the University for their efforts. He also stressed on the need for tailor made academic programns in various fields for the development of education and so as to meet the need of the market. He also urged the management to benefit from Arab and foreign academic experience and develop and implement new plans to attract students and provide them with an apt atmosphere conducive to education and research.
Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi , Vice – Chairman of the Board of Trustees praised His Highness the Ruler of Ajman for his support for the advancement of higher education in the United Arab Emirates. He presented an overview of the achievements between the past and current board members meeting. He pointed out that the university intake has increased tremendously since last year and the Ministry of Higher Education has recently granted increament in the intake of students at the college of Pharmacy and Health Science and at the College of Dentistry.
He explained that the university has completed the requirements of International Accreditation ABET at the College of Engineering and a PhD program at the College ofLaw and a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering at the College of Engineering are also being launched shortly.
Innovation Centre Ajman
His Highness the Ruler of Ajman and the members of the Board of Trustees attended the opening of the Innovation Centre Ajman at Ajman University. The students and alumni of Ajman University briefed them about the various innovative plans and projects on display.
Based on the guidelines of the wise leadership of the United Arab Emirates Ajman University has established the Innovation Center, which aims to adopt innovations and creations of the innovators from inside and outside the university and take advantage of the competencies of faculty members at the university who hail from various intellectual backgrounds.
The vision of Innovation Center Ajman is to be a leader in the Middle East and North Africa region so that it is a center of excellence that will facilitate the linking of the academic and labor market.

The centre is headed by Dr. Mohammed Al Shami, Dean of the College of Business Administration and Assistant to Vice President for Student Affairs and Community Service; it will be managed by Dr. Abdullah Ismail, a faculty member in the College of Business Administration in addition to a number of specialists’ members in various fields. The center is located at Sheikh Zayed Centre for Conferences and Exhibition.
