Operators Given Life-Saving Training on AED Machines

At Ajman University students’ health and safety has the top priority, therefore a special training course “Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation” was organized by the Committee for AED, Automated external defibrillator machines. Mr. Marvin Fernandez delivered the course, Life training center approved doctors American Heart Association, and Dubai Ambulances Services have also licensed him.

 

The training that spanned the day was attended by the six medical staff members that man the clinics across the campus buildings. Mr. Marvin presented interesting case scenarios along with theory to teach the attendees the importance of first aid. He later explained the procedure and techniques to handle a patient suffering from sudden cardiac arrest. The AED machine was used to assist in teaching techniques of saving a stroke or heart attack victim. Resuscitation and shock was given to dummies by using the machine and human responsive actions.

 

Ms. Alaa Al Amiri, Chairperson of the AED Committee and faculty member in the Department of University Requirements explained that this training on the AED machines will enable responding doctors and nurses to save lives because the difference between promptly responding and delay is that of life and death. The first 5 minutes aid and CPR are crucial to the patient and therefore should be handled with utmost precaution and care.

 

Ajman University is keen on ensuring a safe campus, so it has provided three AED machines in each building of the campus. AED committee ensures the machines are in working condition and the licenses of the operators are always up to date. Ajman University spares no expense to achieve the highest standards of safety on campus and for the community in general.
