AU's New College of Medicine to Train Next Generation of Doctors with AI Technology

Ajman University has launched a high-tech College of Medicine to help meet rising healthcare demands and expectations in the United Arab Emirates. The first batch of medical cohorts – set to commence studies in September 2018 – will receive a rigorous and innovative six-year education designed to transform the landscape of patient care.

AU Chancellor Dr. Karim Seghir says that the addition of a College of Medicine further underscores the University’s commitment to being a leading provider of comprehensive higher education in the Gulf region. AU’s newest College also forms a strategic alignment with the UAE’s national priorities of providing world-class healthcare and a first-rate education system.

“We are especially pleased to be adding a College of Medicine in the 30th anniversary year of AU’s founding as the first private university in the GCC,” notes Chancellor Seghir.

“The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program adds to the lineup of distinguished programs already on offer at AU and enhances our long-standing commitment to innovation, scholarship and community service,” says Dr. Solomon Senok, Founding Dean of the College. “The College of Medicine will ensure that the growing demand in the healthcare sector is met with exceptional graduates in the coming years.”

Medical students at AU will make use of Artificial Intelligence and 3D in the College's robust learning environment. In fact, each space in the high-tech facility was designed to provide a cutting-edge and hands-on experience. The clinical skills laboratory comes equipped with “simulated patients” to train future doctors in state-of-the-art examination, communication, treatment and management techniques. Additionally, AU’s medical students will take all of their examinations online – positioning the College as a UAE pioneer in digital measures.

The whole idea, says Dr. Senok, is to create a sustainable, quality workforce for the nation and the region by incentivizing the profession and making sure students have quality education at the doorstep of their homes.
