The International Forum of Education and Mental Health: Integrating AI and Upholding Academic Integrity (IFEMH 2025)
The International Forum on Education and Mental Health (IFEMH) is an annual global event organized by the Deanship of Student Services at Ajman University, and dedicated to addressing the intersection of education, mental health, and contemporary challenges. The 2025 edition of IFEMH centers around Integrating Artificial Intelligence and Upholding Academic Integrity, a theme that highlights the transformative potential of AI while emphasizing the importance of upholding ethical academic standards. This year’s discussions will explore critical areas such as the ethical implications of AI in teacher education, policy frameworks for AI integration in classrooms, and AI’s role in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education). Additionally, the forum will explore AI’s contributions to healthcare and mental health, addressing both advancements and ethical considerations.

I am pleased to welcome you to the 4th International Forum on Education and Mental Health (IFEMH-2025), where we host thought leaders, educators, researchers, and industry professionals to engage in insightful discussions, exchange best practices, and explore solutions to the ethical dilemmas AI presents in education and mental health.
The theme of this year’s forum, Integrating Artificial Intelligence and Upholding Academic Integrity, reflects the evolving landscape of education and the growing impact of AI on learning, teaching, and mental well-being. As we navigate the rapid integration of AI into educational settings, it is imperative to address both its potential and its challenges, ensuring that innovation aligns with the fundamental principles of academic integrity.

Professor Ahmed Nadir Mohamed Kheir is an academic, researcher, and leader in pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical care. He played a pivotal role as a founding member in the development of two internationally recognized pharmacy programs: the School of Pharmacy at the University of Auckland and the College of Pharmacy at Qatar University. Professor Kheir developed and taught courses in clinical pharmacy, social and administrative pharmacy, and pharmacy practice, creating curricula that aligned with the latest developments in the field. With expert knowledge in curriculum development, graduate profiles, and accreditation standards, he worked diligently to bridge the gap between academia and stakeholders, ensuring relevant and practical teaching, training, and application. As an inspirational teacher and expert strategist in educational pedagogy, he introduced Pharmaceutical Care into undergraduate courses at two pharmacy faculties. Additionally, he developed and coordinated Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses and gained significant expertise in the accreditation processes for CPD programs.

Dalia Bedewy had a Ph.D. in psychology from Tanta University in June 2014. She worked at different universities such as University of Scranton, USA, 2006 University of South Florida, USA, 2012, Oklahoma State University, USA, 2016) and Tanta University, Egypt (where she was working as an associate professor of psychology since 2021). Currently, Dalia Bedewy works as an assistant professor of psychology and manager of counseling unit at Ajman University, UAE.

Dr. Zeenath Reza Khan is the Founding President of the ENAI WG Centre for Academic Integrity in the UAE, an Associate Professor at the University of Wollongong in Dubai, and a Board Member of the European Network for Academic Integrity (ENAI). A senior fellow at Wollongong Academy, and award-winning academic with over 80 publications, she specializes in academic integrity, ethics in IT, teaching and learning, and STEM for girls. Recognized globally for her contributions, she has received multiple awards, including the ENAI Research Excellence Award, Digital Leader Award, and UOW Vice Chancellor’s OCTAL Award.

Kamel Ayadi is the MENA Regional Consul of the Swiss Globethics Foundation and founding Chairman of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations' Anti-Corruption Committee. he has worked for 40 years in various advisory and leadership positions in the public and non-profit sectors. He has served at the ministerial level, including as Minister of Governance and Anti-Corruption in the Tunisian government, as Secretary of State, and as founding Chairman of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority in the early 2000s. He is a former Chairman of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations.

Prof. Mayssah El Nayal
Prof. Mayssah El Nayal is a Professor of Clinical Psychology and Personality at Gulf Medical University, Ajman, where she also heads the General Education Center and directs the Student Well-being Center. She earned a grant from the University of London and completed her PhD in Psychology at the University of Alexandria. Her previous roles include Head of the Mental Health Department at the University of Qatar, Head of Psychology at the University of Alexandria, and Consultant for several organizations, including Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the Egyptian Psychology Association. She also served as Dean of Human Sciences at Beirut Arab University.

Dr. Hamid is an Associate Professor, Consultant Psychiatrist, and Chair of Family and Community Medicine and Behavioural Sciences at the University of Sharjah, UAE, and Director of Research for the UK’s National Association of Psychiatric Intensive Care. With over 20 years of academic and clinical experience experience in the UK, he served as Consultant Psychiatrist, Director of Medical Education at Sheffield NHS, PLAB Examiner (GMC), and Foundation Training Programme Director (Health Education England). Dr. Hamid holds an MD (Aleppo University) and a PhD in Psychiatry (Newcastle University). Over the past fifteen years, he has specialized in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Dr. Sameh El Khatib is the CEO of SmartWatt, an Emirati global energy services company focused on pioneering sustainability through digitalization and power intelligence. SmartWatt offers power aggregation services, leveraging Machine Learning and a Digital Twin & Active Energy Management platform to serve end-users, power utilities, and grid operators. Dr. El Khatib holds a PhD, bachelor’s, and master’s in Electrical Engineering from McGill University, specializing in power systems and electricity market economics. Dr. Azmawaty Mohamad Nor is an Associate Professor and currently serves as the Deputy Dean for Undergraduate Programmes in the Faculty of Education at Universiti Malaya. Appointed as one of the Board Members of the Board of Counsellors, Malaysia, Dr. Azmawaty has been involved in numerous activities championing and advocating for mental health among Malaysians from various backgrounds. She has participated in conferences, seminars, workshops, and forums as a keynote speaker and guest lecturer on mental health issues, counselling at-risk behaviour among adolescents, empowering women, and substance abuse. Currently, she is working on incorporating the use of AI and technology into the Code of Ethics for the Board of Counsellors, Malaysia.

She has published more than 50 scientific papers, book chapters, and patents, and has supervised over 100 undergraduate and postgraduate theses. Prof. Christopher Hill has worked in international higher education since 2008, with 9 years in Malaysia and 8 in Dubai. He is Vice President for the UAE Centre for Academic Integrity, an IC Global Fellow, OBHE Associate, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Adjunct Researcher for Taiwan's Higher Evaluation and Accreditation Council, and External Examiner for the University of Birmingham in Dubai. His research focuses on TNE, online learning, and international education development. Prof. Hill has worked on projects in multiple countries, including Thailand, the Philippines, and Sub-Saharan Africa, and has published extensively. He is a regular keynote speaker, hosts the Think Education podcast, and serves on eight international journal editorial boards.

Dr. Mohammed Aljanahi holds a PhD in Public Administration from Western Michigan University, with research interests in Emiratisation, leadership, organizational behavior, and humor. He has received multiple research grants, including over 100,000 AED as a Co-PI, and has published work such as Challenges to the Emiratisation Process: Content Analysis. Actively engaged in the community, he is a member of the Dubai Police Crime Prevention Association, contributes to the Jahez workforce readiness program, and leads workshops on well-being and leadership at UAEU’s Happiness Center.

Dr. Gabriel Andrade earned his Ph.D. from the University of Zulia (Venezuela) in 2008. He served as a Titular Professor at the University of Zulia from 2005 to 2015 before expanding his academic career internationally. He has held teaching positions at the College of the Marshall Islands (Republic of the Marshall Islands), Xavier University School of Medicine (Aruba), and St. Matthew's University School of Medicine (Cayman Islands). Dr. Andrade joined Ajman University in August 2019, where he continues to contribute to academia. His primary research interests lie in ethics and psychology within medical contexts.

Dr. Abdulhadi Shoufan
Dr. Abdulhadi Shoufan received his PhD from the Technische Universitaet Darmstadt, Germany in 2007. From 2008 to 2010, he led the Security Hardware Group at the Center for Advanced Security Research Darmstadt, where he developed hardware solutions for post-quantum cryptography. He is currently an Associate Professor at Khalifa University. His research interests include zero-trust architecture, embedded security, cryptographic hardware, UAV safety and secure operations, unmanned traffic management (UTM), learning technology, and engineering education.

Dr. Maryam Amirrad
Dr. Maryam Amirrad is a Pediatrician, Educator, and Researcher with extensive experience in both clinical practice and medical education. She completed her Pediatric specialty through the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH), UK, and was elected as a Fellow of the RCPCH in recognition of her exceptional educational achievements and dedication to the health and well-being of children. Dr. Amirrad also holds a Pediatric Infectious Diseases (PID) Diploma from the University of Oxford, UK, an MEd from the University of Ottawa, and a Clinical Research Certificate from McMaster University. With over two decades of clinical experience in Pediatrics, Dr. Amirrad has been actively involved in medical education since 2008. She plays a key role in the development and implementation of Pediatric curricula, supervises clinical clerkships, and oversees student assessments. Additionally, she is involved in various research initiatives and regularly conducts training workshops in clinical assessment for healthcare professionals.

Dr. Ahmad Alzubi have been a Professor of Psychology at Al-Balqa Applied University in Jordan since 2018, and currently work as an Associate Professor of Psychology at the College of Humanities and Sciences at Ajman University. Participating in the work teaching, mentoring, training and participating in committees such as accreditation, academic effectiveness and exams, counseling and practicum.

Professor Alaa Al-Rawashdeh is a distinguished academic specializing in sociology, social work, and community development. He holds a PhD in Sociology and has extensive teaching experience at universities in the UAE, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, as well as experience in research and consultancy in social sciences. He is an academic, researcher, expert, consultant, and accredited judge for the Scientific Research Award of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the UAE Ministry of Interior's Scientific Research Award, and the Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi Award. His administrative experience in universities includes positions as Department Head, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Assistant Dean for Planning, Development, and Quality, and Chair of the International Accreditation Committee.

Dr. Enaam Mohammed Youssef is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Ajman University’s College of Humanities and Sciences and the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Arts, Ain Shams University. She began her academic career as a teaching assistant at Ain Shams University in 2003, advancing through the ranks to Assistant Professor and Associate Professor by 2022. Dr. Youssef earned a Master's degree in Sociology in 2009, specializing in Women’s Sociology, Organizational Sociology, and Socio-Economic Empowerment, followed by a Ph.D. in 2015 in Social Crisis Management and Social Change, with first-class honors. She has been involved in numerous international and local conferences, implemented workshops, and contributed to academic training courses in the UAE, Egypt, and other countries. Her research has been published in the Scopus database, and she has served on scientific committees for international conferences and journals. Dr. Youssef has also chaired scientific sessions and served as deputy editor-in-chief for peer-reviewed journals. Additionally, she provides family and social consultations and has been recognized with certificates of appreciation from the UAE Ministry of Interior, Ajman Police General Command, and the Minister of Justice of Bahrain for her contributions to community service and academic endeavors. She has received several research and community awards for her impactful work in sociology and social initiatives.

Dr. Mervat Mohamed
Mervat Medhat has been an assistant professor at the College of Mass Communication at Ajman University since February 2017. She was promoted to Associate Professor by Helwan University in October 2018 and by Ajman University in 2024. Before that, she worked as a Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor in the Computer Graphic Design and Animation Department at the Emirates College of Technology in Abu Dhabi, UAE, since 2010. She earned her Ph.D. in Applied Arts, specializing in Advertising, in early 2010 from Helwan University in Cairo and is recognized as a specialist in interactive and 3D outdoor advertising. Before that, she worked as a Lecturer Assistant with a Master’s degree in the Graphic Design Department at the Academy of Arts and Design, Higher Institute of Applied Arts in Cairo, Egypt, for five years starting in 2000. Through these years of experience, she has gained valuable expertise in her field, including teaching and curriculum development for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Dr. Mervat has participated in numerous Arab and international conferences and has published research papers in prestigious international scientific journals in the fields of environmental advertising, 3D outdoor advertising, interactive design, branding and marketing, e-learning, teaching methods, visual education, and modern technology AR, VR usage in advertising campaigns. She has received excellence awards in Teaching Award 2022, Ajman University Her teaching experience covers a wide range of graphic design and animation topics, including Visual Communication, Animation, Image Processing, Web Traditional Animation Techniques, Storyboard Design for Animation, and Drawing Principles.

Professor Ahmed Nadir Mohamed Kheir is an academic, researcher, and leader in pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical care. He played a pivotal role as a founding member in the development of two internationally recognized pharmacy programs: the School of Pharmacy at the University of Auckland and the College of Pharmacy at Qatar University. Professor Kheir developed and taught courses in clinical pharmacy, social and administrative pharmacy, and pharmacy practice, creating curricula that aligned with the latest developments in the field. With expert knowledge in curriculum development, graduate profiles, and accreditation standards, he worked diligently to bridge the gap between academia and stakeholders, ensuring relevant and practical teaching, training, and application. As an inspirational teacher and expert strategist in educational pedagogy, he introduced Pharmaceutical Care into undergraduate courses at two pharmacy faculties. Additionally, he developed and coordinated Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses and gained significant expertise in the accreditation processes for CPD programs.

His research interests are community-university engagement, He has presented his research in major social work conferences and his papers have been published in distinguished social work journals.

Dr. Rasha is the Head of the Psychology Department at Ajman University, holding a Ph.D. in Psychology from Ain Shams University, Egypt. With over 20 years of experience in teaching, research, and community service, she also holds a life coaching certification from Columbia University, USA, and has 25 years of counseling experience. Between 2016 and 2019, Dr. Rasha established and managed the Student Counseling Unit at Ajman University. She previously served as the Director of the Counseling Department at the University of Sharjah from 2007 to 2011 and worked as an assistant researcher at the NCEEE in Egypt from 1996 to 2005. Dr. Rasha has authored numerous research papers and articles in both Arabic and English in reputable journals, including two books, with her latest publication focusing on mental health and school counseling, released in 2022. She has also conducted various training courses, workshops, and lectures in psychology for public service organizations and schools. Additionally, Dr. Rasha is an active member of a support team for individuals of determination across the United Arab Emirates. Since 1998, Dr. Rasha has been a freelance journalist, contributing to numerous newspapers and magazines in both Arabic and English.
