AU Alumna’s Research Paper wins Best Paper Award at a Global Conference on Innovative Computing

A research paper by Ajman University (AU) alumna Lamees Dalbah’20 has been adjudged as the best paper at the International Conference on Innovative Computing and Communication (ICICC-2021). Lamees is currently working as a Research Assistant at AU’s Artificial Intelligence Research Center. Her paper in the Deep Learning & Applications-based Discipline was awarded the best paper in the category.

This accomplishment is a result of adapting a new algorithm that mimics coronavirus prevention strategies to perform an optimization problem. The paper was also chosen to be published in Springer- Advances in Intelligent Systems and Computing (AISC) series, and selected to be extended to a special issue in the Expert System Journal (Q1).

The covid-19 epidemic constitutes a global emergency which makes it a trending topic for researchers in health and vaccine investigation aspects. Moreover, the impact of Covid-19 and the Ministry of Health’s prevention strategy (Herd immunity) has inspired artificial intelligence researchers to propose a new algorithm (Coronavirus Herd Immunity Optimizer), and delve deeper into offering solutions based on it.
