All AU programs are accredited by the UAE’s Commission for Academic Accreditation in the Ministry of Education.

ADMISSIONS

Applications for admission should be submitted online at link: here.

To be eligible for undergraduate admission, a student must have a secondary school certificate issued in the UAE, or its equivalent as approved/attested by the UAE Ministry of Education.

To be eligible for graduate admission, a student must have Bachelor‘s degree to enter a Master’s program and/or must have a Master’s degree to enter a PhD program. Your degrees must be from an accredited university in the UAE or from a reputable university outside the UAE.

Applicants can submit scans of all available documents, certificates and scores to date. Accordingly, provisional acceptances will be in accordance with the instructions that will be issued by the Ministry of Education (MOE).

To be eligible for undergraduate admission, a student must have a secondary school certificate issued in the UAE, or its equivalent as approved/attested by the UAE Ministry of Education. (See previous question about submitting scans while you await official documents.) We also accept first and second term official grades along with predicted grades for provisional acceptance.

To be eligible for graduate admission, a student must have Bachelor for Master programs and Master for PhD programs from an accredited university in the UAE – or from a university outside UAE that has been approved by UAE Ministry of Education.

Yes, although several standardized tests, like TOEFL and IELTS, have been postponed due to COVID-19. They may become available again soon.

Banner is the main Student Registration System, through which you can register, add and drop courses, view classes and timetable, pay tuition fees, and check reports. For more information please visit the link: here

ORS is the Online Request System, where students can apply for the e-Requests online instead of visiting campus.

CLASSES & CALENDAR

AU is working closely with the Ministry of Education in the UAE to evaluate all possible scenarios, keeping in mind that the highest priority will be always given to the safety of our students.

There are two regular semesters during the year, Fall and Spring. Each semester lasts for 15 weeks, in addition to the summer term which lasts for 6 weeks followed by a second summer term for internships and practical training.

Yes! Success in your collegiate studies starts with being present and responsible in your classes.

A student’s “study load” is the number of credit hours for which he or she registered during the semester. For the Fall and Spring semesters, the study load for the undergraduate programs varies from 9 to 18 credit hours – and for graduate programs from 3 to 12 credit hours. One credit hour refers to one lecture hour or two hours of practical study per week, lasting for a total of fifteen weeks. For summer term, the study load varies from 3 to 6 credit hours.

Some scholarships and honors awards are contingent upon maintaining a specific amount of credit hours. You have to be sure that you are in compliance with those policies.

All members of AU are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with the regulations of the University and the laws of the UAE. AU students are requested to play an exemplary and positive role in enhancing the reputation of the University as well as in their own lives.

The Suspension request should be submitted online through the Online Registration System (ORS). Newly admitted students can suspend their study only in their first semester (Seat Reservation Fees should be paid for limited seats programs) and they should register courses for the subsequent semester.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

Ajman University was founded in 1988 as the first private university in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and was the first higher education institution in the UAE to accept expatriate students.

Since then AU has continued its growth by expanding academic programs, diversifying the student population and faculty, improving positioning on the global map of higher education and becoming a pioneer for inclusion, innovation and social impact.

One of Ajman University’s strategic goals is to support and foster the development of a bright and diverse student body. AU accepts students from all nationalities around the world!

Undergraduate classes in 8 of the 9 Colleges at Ajman university are segregated. The College of Medicine is coeducational. All graduate courses are coeducational.

FEES, FINANCES & SCHOLARSHIPS

To apply for undergraduate programs, the applicant will pay AED 1,365. For postgraduate programs, the fee is AED 2,100. If the application is not accepted, AED 1,000 will be refunded for the undergraduate program and AED 1,700 for the postgraduate programs.

Students can pay online through the Banner system, cash deposits through Al Ansari Exchange, and bank transfer. Students who are not yet enrolled in Ajman University can pay online through the link: here

HOUSING ON CAMPUS

Yes, AU has two student dormitories that are fully furnished with services. They can accommodate respectively 500 female students; and 300 male students. Students are provided with a shuttlebus between dormitories and the University.

The female dormitory is comprised of six floors. Students are provided with three different types of rooms: single, twin and triple bed rooms with in-suite bathrooms and kitchenettes. The dorm also includes a multi-purpose hall, study rooms, cinema, laundry rooms, lounges, entertainment hall and a gym. Free Wi-Fi connection is available in all rooms. STUDENT ACTIVITIES & CLUBS

The Office of Student Life (OSL) at Ajman University is designed to complement the academic experience of students and enhance their soft skills through a wide range of co-curricular activities, programs, and events.

OSL organizes an array of activities that cover diverse interests, as well as social, cultural, sports and art-related issues.

TRANSFER STUDENTS

Yes! Students from accredited institutions of higher education may apply for admission to any AU program in the same field of study – if they have been of good academic standing. For more information about the transfer of the undergraduates please visit the link: here

 

TRANSPORTATION

Yes, the Transportation Unit is responsible for facilitating commute between student residences or residential halls and the University campus. The unit also provides students with transport to activities outside the University, such as visits to scientific and entertainment events, lectures or conferences. VISAS

AU provides residency visas to its students. The total cost is AED 915 (for a one-year student visa) and includes:

  • Visa issuance = AED 225
  • Medical test = AED 285
  • Emirates ID = AED 160
  • Residency issuance = AED 245

The student visa expenses are paid by the student. A visa is given for a duration of one year, at a time, renewable for a similar period.
