This one credit-hour seminar course introduces orthodontic students to the assessment, diagnosis, and interdisciplinary management of patients with dentofacial deformities requiring orthognathic surgery. Emphasis is placed on distinguishing skeletal from dental malocclusions and formulating comprehensive surgical-orthodontic treatment plans. The course covers key aspects of pre-surgical orthodontic preparation, post-surgical occlusal management, and long-term stabilization strategies. Clinical decision-making is grounded in biological principles to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
