Raghavendra Manjunath Shetty

Dr. Raghavendra M. Shetty is an Associate Professor at the College of Dentistry, Ajman University, United Arab Emirates, and a Specialist Paediatric Dentist with more than 22 years of academic and clinical experience. He serves as postgraduate faculty for the MSc in Pediatric Dentistry programme, contributing to teaching, clinical training, research supervision, and student assessment. He graduated from A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore, India, in 2000 and earned his Master of Dental Surgery in Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry from PMNM Dental College, Bagalkot. He received the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Gold Medal for securing first rank in his Master’s programme in 2004. He subsequently earned a PhD from Nitte University and a Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE) from Keele University, United Kingdom. In recognition of his research contributions, Dr. Shetty received the Young Pedodontist Researcher Award from the Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry in 2010. He holds the Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He is also a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and the Academy of General Education. Dr. Shetty has published more than 120 scientific papers in national and international journals, contributed chapters to seven textbooks, and holds three published patents. His principal research interests include artificial intelligence in dentistry, dental education, behaviour guidance, paediatric dental anxiety, preventive dentistry, and clinical paediatric dentistry. He has supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and serves as an examiner for undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes. He has held several leadership positions within the Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, including Joint Secretary and Executive Committee Member. He served as the Organising Chairman and Scientific Committee Chairman of the widely acclaimed 37th ISPPD National Conference, held in Raipur in 2015. He has also served on the Membership Committee of the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry for the 2023–2025 and 2025–2027 terms. Dr. Shetty is a Handling Editor for BMC Oral Health and a Topic Editor for Frontiers in Dental Medicine. He also serves as a reviewer and editorial board member for several reputed national and international journals. He has organised and contributed to numerous conferences, pre-conference courses, invited lectures, workshops, and academic programmes at national and international forums. He currently serves as the Program Coordinator of the Paediatric Dentistry Residency Programme at Ajman University.
