Course Description
This course provides a generic definition of human rights and its diverse categories (mainly presented
in civil and political rights – economic, social, and cultural rights – collective societal rights/group rights).
The course also examines the evolution phases of human rights, and the different mechanisms adopted
to protect human rights under both statutory/man-made laws and Islamic law. Reference is made to
the treatment of human rights under United Arab Emirates constitution.
