SAHAR F. MAKKY

Sahar F. Makky is a principal lecturer in the Department of Architecture, College of Architecture, Art and Design, where she has taught since 2008. She holds an M.Arch. Eng. (2006) and a BSc. Arch.(1986). Makky began her career at the internationally renowned Rifat Chadirji Consultancy while lecturing full-time at the University of Technology, Baghdad. Her architectural practice includes presidential, residential, and commercial projects. She has published on architectural identity and heritage conservation at international conferences and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). An active member of professional bodies—including the Society of Engineers (UAE), the Architectural Heritage Society (UAE), and the Engineering Society (Iraq)—Makky combines a passion for timeless architectural design with expertise in sustainability and the green economy. She has contributed to national and international sustainability competitions and workshops and maintains strong collaborations with governmental and private organizations. Recognized for her community service and efforts in women’s empowerment, Makky has received awards from Ajman University, government authorities, community organizations, and private companies. She continues to bridge academia and practice through teaching, research, professional engagement, and volunteer initiatives.
