Sahar F. Makky is a senior lecturer and faculty member in the Department of Architecture at Ajman University, UAE, where she has been teaching since 2008. She holds a Master's degree in Architecture Engineering (2006) and a Bachelor's degree (1986).
Makky began her career at Rifat Chadirji Consultancy while also serving as a full-time lecturer at the University of Technology in Baghdad. Over the course of her architectural career, she has designed several prestigious projects, including presidential, residential, and commercial buildings. She has also published papers on architectural identity and heritage conservation at international conferences.
Her passion for designing and teaching timeless architecture is complemented by her expertise in sustainability and the green economy. Makky has been an active participant in national and international teams, contributing to sustainable architecture competitions and workshops. In addition to her academic and professional achievements, she has played a key role in community service and volunteering initiatives, particularly focusing on women’s empowerment. Through her extensive network, Makky continues to bridge the gap between academia and practice, collaborating with both governmental and private organizations.
