Field Trip Activity to Dubai Financial Market by Finance Department

The Department of Finance, College of Business Administration, has organized a field trip for Corporate Finance students to Dubai Financial Market (DFM) on Tuesday December 4, 2012 under the supervision of Dr. Mohammed Naim Chaker.

The students were welcomed by Mr. Mohammed Abdulla Ketait, Executive Corporate Social Responsibilities of DFM. Also, he provided a presentation to students about DFM history, features, trading sessions, services to investors, and the companies listed in DFM.

The second function of the trip was introducing the education programs offered by DFM to students that is the Stock Game. Mr. Ali Al Hashimi, Executive Vice President for Projects at Borse Dubai provided information about the stock game competition that is organized every year in March where all students can participate and conduct online buying and selling stocks in DFM with the hypothetical money they are given. In this game, students act as investors and brokers to buy or sell at real market prices. The leading students and winners of higher returns from the game will be awarded by DFM. Mr. Al Hashimi has offered the students to get an investor card in DFM as part of the Youth Investors Program.

The last function of the trip was a tour to the trading floor of DFM by Mr. Abdullah Ketait, who explained the process of trade, how to read the data on trading screens, the trade volume, stocks prices movements, and he answered the questioned raised by the students.
