The College of Mass Communication hosted Ms. Pamela Kesrouani, trainer at the Google News Initiative – Middle East and North Africa, to deliver a series of specialized training workshops for the college’s students. During his participation in one of the workshops, Dr. Hosam Salama, Dean of the College, emphasized the college’s full support for professional training activities conducted in collaboration with experienced media professionals. He highlighted that these efforts align with Ajman University’s vision to enhance the competitiveness of its students and graduates. The workshops, supervised by Prof. Maha Attia, were part of the in-class activities aimed at training students to use Google’s digital tools for journalistic purposes. In the first workshop, Ms. Kesrouani delivered an interactive presentation on the advantages of using Notebook LM in journalism, explaining how the tool works and how it differs from other artificial intelligence tools. The session also showcased professional examples created with Pinpoint, another tool developed by Google to support journalists in producing in-depth, data-driven reports. Students expressed their appreciation for the workshop, which forms part of their professional and practical preparation. They highlighted how it bridges the gap between the theoretical foundations they study and practical applications, as reflected in the journalistic projects they developed following the training. For her part, Ms. Kesrouani thanked the College of Mass Communication for the invitation and praised the students’ enthusiasm and engagement. She affirmed that the Google News Initiative aims to empower young journalists and equip them with tools that facilitate their work in an ever-evolving digital media environment.
