Course Description

This course provides students with basic physicochemical principles of solubility and solution properties of drugs, factors affecting solubility, surfactants, micellization, solubilization, and partitioning of drugs between immiscible solvents.  Rheological properties of various pharmaceutical formulations shall be covered.  The course also covers basic principles pertinent to explain characteristics and behavior of pharmaceutical dispersions including colloids, suspensions, emulsions, aerosols & semisolids. Physicochemical drug interactions and incompatibilities shall also be covered.
