Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Zayed Bin Saqr Al Nahyan, Consort of H.H. Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, Her Highness Sheikha Asmaa bint Saqr, Consort of His Highness Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuami Crown Prince of Ajman, Her Highness Sheikha Sara bint Majed, Consort of His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Sheikha Nawal Al Qassimi, Sheikha Ezza bint Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Madame Abeer Al Naggar, Consort of the Egyptian Ambassador in the UAE, and Madame Aysha Ahmad Basheer, Consort of H.E. Dr Saeed Abdullah Salman, President of Ajman University of Science and Technology and other distinguished guests joined together to celebrate the graduation of the female students of the academic year of 2007-2008 in Sheikh Zayed Hall for Exhibitions and Conferences at Ajman University of Science & Technology (AUST) on April 30, 2009.
After listening to verses from the Quran followed by the University Anthem, described as following "in the footsteps of the Mother of the Nation," Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Zayed bin Saqr Al Nahyan proceeded with the commencement ceremony by congratulating the female graduates on their success of achieving their degrees, noting that this is to be added to the "countless achievements of the United Arab Emirates under the wise leadership and guidance of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai." Her Highness expressed her gratitude and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi for his infinite support of AUST. She also congratulated His Excellency, Dr. Saeed Abdullah Salman, on his accomplishments and exemplary efforts in building AUST as "a distinguished edifice of knowledge."
Described as "a mother eager to celebrate this moment with her daughters," Madame Aysha Al Basheer, began her address by first thanking His Highness Sheikh Humaid for his commitment to education and his full support to AUST. She then thanked His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, as well as the Rulers of the other Emirates, for joining their efforts and investing resources to continue the advancement of education to achieve sustainable development. His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, was also thanked for his invaluable efforts that have tremendously impacted the sector of higher education in the UAE. Finally, Madame Aysha Basheer addressed the graduates, stating, "You will always be our students and part of this institution."
Also speaking on this occasion, one of the female graduates addressed the audience by appreciating the presence of both Her Highness Sheikha Fatima and Madame Aysha on this special day. The graduate spoke a few words on the students hard-work and dedication that have led them to this joyous moment. The graduate ended her speech by expressing gratitude towards AUST faculty members and parents for their constant support and devotion.
After the last speech was given, the conferral of the degrees of both Master s and Bachelor s were given. The ceremony honoured 916 female graduates, making the total number of graduates greater than 19,000 since 1988. The numbers of graduates of each college are as follows:
College of Business Administration: 87, College of Education & Basic Sciences: 386, College of Dentistry: 102, College of Information, Mass Communication and Humanities: 139, College of Engineering: 96, College of Information Technology: 53, College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences: 48, and College of Law: 3.
