A master’s student project from the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences won first poster place in the 8th UAE Graduate Students Research Conference (UAEGSRC) 2023

The Graduate Students Research Conference (GSRC) is a multidisciplinary academic event to share the research being conducted at universities across the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and their international partners. The main purpose of the GSRC is to provide opportunities for graduate students to share their research work amongst themselves, receive scholarly feedback, and network professionally. The event enables graduate students to showcase their innovative scholarship to various sectors of industry and government, and receive feedback on practical aspects that may enhance the value of their research. The GSRC 2023 conference gets organized by a different UAE-based university each year, this year, it was organized by Khalifa University on the 19-20th March at the Conrad Hotel – Abu Dhabi. To be eligible, the first author must be a graduate student at a higher education institution in the UAE in Academic Year 2022-2023. There are four tracks of competition in the UAE GSRC including:

  • BUSINESS & MANAGEMENT:
  • CLINICAL, PRE-CLINICAL, HEALTH & LIFE SCIENCES:
  • ENGINEERING, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY & PHYSICAL SCIENCES:

 

A group of Students from the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Ajman University participated and presented three posters in the 8th UAE GSRC 2023. One of the research papers was nominated for the Best Paper Award, and was successfully qualified for the second round. A 5-minute video presentation was prepared summarizing key aspects of the research. Consequently, the project won first place in the category: Clinical, pre-Clinical, Health and Life Science.

 

The project titled: Development of the Asthma Knowledge Test for assessing Patient Knowledge of Asthma was presented by the MSc in Clinical Pharmacy student: Lamees AlAkhras and supervised by Dr Sanah Hasan. The project aimed to develop and validate a measure of asthma knowledge that would be available for use in the Arabic language and context. It is a valuable addition to the limited available tools for assessing asthma knowledge and identifying specific patient education areas needing improvement.
