Ajman, August 2, 2025 - Six first-year students from College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (COPHS) have successfully completed a two-week clinical training program at the University of Malaya (UM). This trip aimed to broaden global perspectives and provide students with direct exposure to international higher education environments.
Hosted by UM, this program offered students a first-hand look at hospital and community pharmacy practices. Participants engaged with various departments, learning about dispensing processes, pharmacy regulations, and essential communication skills for interacting with patients and physicians. This hands-on experience is designed to enhance their learning and reinforce the practical application of their studies. This exchange is a testament to COPHS's commitment to preparing students for a globalized healthcare landscape. We are incredibly grateful to the Faculty of Pharmacy at UM, especially Dr. Asfarina Amir Hassan and Dr. Raja Ahsan Aftab, for their exceptional coordination and mentorship, which made this experience so successful. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Prof. Sai H.S. Boddu, Chair of the Internationalization Committee at COPHS, for his support and commitment to international collaboration. Additionally, our thanks go to Dr. Subish Palaian, Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Office of Experiential Education at COPHS, for his dedicated efforts in facilitating and coordinating this training course. The college also thanks Dr. Kusrini Kadar, Assistant Professor of Nursing at COPHS for accompanying the students to Malaysia. Their commitment to fostering global partnerships has been invaluable.
According to Prof. Abeer Al-Ghananeem, Dean of COPHS, these international collaborations are more than just educational trips—they are transformative journeys that develop leadership, empathy, and global citizenship. By providing high-impact experiential learning opportunities that extend beyond borders, we are shaping our students into confident, compassionate, and globally-minded healthcare professionals. This initiative underscores our dedication to giving students diverse, real-world experiences that enrich their academic knowledge and prepare them for a future in global healthcare. We look forward to expanding these partnerships and providing even more students with life-changing opportunities.
