A three-hour workshop titled: “A Day in the Life of a Clinical Pharmacist Workshop: Anticoagulation in Cancer Patients” was moderated by Dr Aseala Abou Saud and co-moderated by Prof Sanah Hasan on Saturday, November 22, 2025 about anticoagulation in oncology patients. Dr Aseala, PharmD is a Board - Certified Oncology Specialist and leads her own Pharmacotherapy Oral Oncolytic Clinic at UCSF-John Muir Health Jean And Ken Hofmann Cancer Center, USA. The workshop covered interactive patient cases referred by physicians to be seen and followed by a clinical pharmacist. These patients have multiple comorbidities or are on complex regimens with toxicities that need to be managed carefully. Current guideline recommendations and literature on anticoagulation use in cancer patients were reviewed. Students walked away with clinical pharmacy pearls and a new perspective on how to approach cancer patient care. The workshop represented COPHS efforts into bringing practitioners into the classroom where actual practice and real life cases of patient care are discussed and debated with students.
