College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences Team Participates in the National Academic Sabbatical Roadshow

Faculty members from the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (COPHS) engaged in the roadshow conducted by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) at the Dubai HCT Academic City Campus. With over 180 representatives from 22 higher education institutes (HEIs), this workshop aimed to introduce the Academic-Industry Sabbatical Program for faculty to gain practical experience and strengthen collaboration between academia, research, and the national employment market.

This initiative was driven by H.E. Dr. Abdulrahman AlAwar, the acting minister of MoHESR, to bridge the gap between academia and industry needs, ensuring that higher education institutions play a central role in developing innovative, practical solutions that directly support the nation’s economic and workforce priorities. The Roadshow highlighted how the National Sabbatical Framework enables faculty members to engage in impactful research, applied projects, and professional experiences that enhance both institutional capacity and employability outcomes for graduates.

Through participation in the roadshow,  COPHS aims to align with the Ministry's efforts to strengthen ties between academia and industry, ultimately benefiting both students and faculty members. At the workshop, Prof. Abeer AlGhananeem, Dean of the COPHS, shared her thoughts on having well-defined intellectual property policy frameworks in university–industry partnerships to minimize ambiguity.
