The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (COPHS) Nursing program proudly announces the success of its campus-wide Diabetes Awareness Event, held on Thursday, 27 November 2025. Designed to empower the AU community with essential knowledge on early diabetes prevention, effective disease management, and proper wound care, the event brought together students, faculty, and visitors for an engaging and educational experience.
Led by second-year nursing students and supported by the Head of Department Dr. Deema Mahasneh and dedicated Faculty, the initiative featured hands-on skill demonstrations, interactive educational stations, and informative health sessions. Participants had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of diabetes risks, healthy lifestyle practices, and critical care techniques, reinforcing the vital role nurses play in promoting community wellbeing.
Professor Abeer AlGhananeem, Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, stated: “I am immensely proud of our nursing students and faculty for delivering an event that truly reflects our mission and values. Their dedication to advancing community health and their passion for service embody the spirit of COPHS. Events like this reaffirm our belief that when students learn today, they are empowered to protect tomorrow.”
This collaborative initiative underscores COPHS’s commitment to fostering experiential learning and enhancing student engagement through real-world health outreach. By taking the lead in planning and delivering the event, nursing students demonstrated their growing competence, confidence, and compassion—qualities essential to their future roles as healthcare professionals.
