The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (COPHS) at Ajman University hosted a focused Interprofessional Education (IPE) activity in which senior Pharmacy and Nursing students jointly presented a complex pneumonia case. The session demonstrated the essential value of teamwork, communication, and shared decision-making in delivering high-quality patient care.
Mentored by Mr. Ahmed Gaili from the Department of Clinical Sciences, the interprofessional team delivered a coordinated presentation. Nursing students led the Nursing Care Plan, emphasizing assessment and supportive care, while Pharmacy students presented the Pharmaceutical Care Plan, identifying and resolving drug therapy-related problems. The activity highlighted core IPE competencies, including role clarification, active communication, and collaborative problem-solving, offering students a realistic simulation of multidisciplinary clinical practice.
Prof. Abeer Alghananeem, Dean of COPHS, stated: “Interprofessional activities like this are vital to preparing our graduates for today’s team-based healthcare environment. By learning together, our students gain the confidence and collaborative skills needed to deliver safer, more effective patient care.”
Dr. Subish Palaian, Coordinator of Experiential Education Office added: “This IPE experience strengthens clinical judgment and reinforces the importance of working alongside other health professionals. It is a key component of our experiential training strategy.”
COPHS remains committed to fostering interprofessional learning that equips students to excel in multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
