3rd-Year Nursing Students Lead High-Impact Hypertension Awareness Event at SKMC- Ajman

As part of the Community Health Education Initiatives by the Nursing Department at Ajman University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (COPHS), 3rd-year Nursing students successfully organized a Hypertension Awareness Day at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC)- Ajman. The event aimed to educate patients, visitors, and healthcare staff on hypertension risk factors, early detection, and the importance of long-term blood pressure control through healthy lifestyle choices.

The impactful initiative was led by dedicated students Leena Mohammed Abukwaik, Walaa Abdalmonem, Sanya Zehra Raza, and Maram Ahmed Ali, with support and guidance from Dr. Omar Smadi and Dr. Hosny Maher. The event was held under the supervision of Dr. Deema Hamzeh Mahasneh, Head of the Nursing Department, and Prof. Abeer AlGhananeem, Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

To make learning accessible and enjoyable, the students designed interactive activities, including educational booths, informative posters, health quizzes, and a spinning wheel. These engaging stations effectively simplified critical health information, actively involving participants in discussions about nutrition, physical activity, and regular monitoring.

The event was exceptionally well-received by the SKMC community, demonstrating the students' growing clinical confidence and highlighting Ajman University’s ongoing commitment to promoting preventive healthcare and strengthening community well-being.
