Ajman University Pharmacy Student Gains Global Exposure Through MAHE's International Summer School in India

Ajman 31 July, 2026, Angela Mary Alexander, a student from the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, successfully fulfilled the requirements of PHA381: Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences III (International Dimension) through her participation in the Manipal International Summer School (MISS 2026), hosted by the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), India, from 6 to 17 July 2026.

The program brought together students from diverse countries and academic disciplines, creating a dynamic environment for international learning, collaboration, and cultural exchange. Organized by MAHE's Office of International Affairs and Collaborations, MISS 2026 offered a unique blend of academic enrichment and cultural immersion. Over the two-week program, participants engaged in approximately 40 hours of academic activities and 40 hours of cultural experiences designed to foster global citizenship, leadership, intercultural competence, and collaborative learning.

Through lectures, workshops, interactive discussions, and team-based projects, students explored contemporary global issues and innovative approaches across a range of disciplines while building meaningful connections with peers from around the world. Angela benefited from interactions with distinguished faculty members and international participants, gaining valuable insights into global healthcare perspectives, interdisciplinary collaboration, and emerging trends in health sciences education.

The College extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Anup Naha, Director of International Collaborations and Professor, and Dr. Girish Thunga, Professor of Pharmacy Practice at MAHE, for their academic mentorship, guidance, and support in enriching Angela's international learning experience.

Beyond the academic program, MISS 2026 offered participants the opportunity to experience the rich culture, traditions, and biodiversity of coastal Karnataka. Through cultural exchange activities, educational visits, and networking events, Angela developed a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity and strengthened essential professional skills, including adaptability, teamwork, and effective communication in multicultural environments. These experiences enhanced her understanding of culturally responsive healthcare and further prepared her to thrive in increasingly global healthcare settings.
