Ajman University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Hosts “Nursing Preceptor Workshop- 2026” to Strengthen Clinical Education and Workforce Readiness
On 27th August, 2026, the office of Experiential Learning at the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences successfully hosted the ‘Nursing Preceptor Workshop-2026’, bringing together preceptors from partner healthcare institutions to strengthen clinical education and enhance students' readiness for the evolving healthcare workforce. The program focused on fostering collaboration between academic and clinical partners to ensure that nursing students acquire the competencies, professional skills, and practical experiences required by today's job market. Participants were introduced to the objectives and structure of the experiential learning courses for the Fall 2026 Semester, with discussions highlighting the critical role of preceptors in mentoring students and facilitating the transition from classroom learning to clinical practice.
The meeting also guided preceptors' responsibilities, student assessment frameworks, training policies, and mechanisms for monitoring student progress during clinical placements. A key focus of the program was mapping students' clinical and professional competencies to current healthcare industry expectations, ensuring that experiential learning opportunities remain aligned with workforce needs. Through interactive discussions, real-life case scenarios, and a dedicated feedback forum, participants exchanged best practices and explored strategies for strengthening students' employability, professional growth, and clinical competence. The session further introduced the support resources and communication channels available to assist preceptors throughout the training period.
In addition, the workshop provided a valuable platform for gathering structured feedback from preceptors regarding the competencies and attributes most sought after in the healthcare workforce. Discussions focused on aligning students’ clinical, professional, communication, digital, and interprofessional collaboration skills with current job market requirements, while also identifying emerging competencies that will be critical in the future healthcare landscape. Preceptors shared insights on evolving industry expectations, technological advancements, patient-centered care practices, and workforce trends, enabling the College to continuously refine its curriculum and experiential learning activities. This feedback-driven approach supports the development of graduates who are not only practice-ready but also equipped with the adaptability and lifelong learning skills needed to succeed in a rapidly changing healthcare environment
