Building Career-Ready Pharmacists: Expert Session on Licensure Pathways in the UAE

The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (COPHS) at Ajman University (AU) has hosted an expert educational session titled “Your Roadmap to Pharmacist Licensure in the UAE”, designed specifically for final-year pharmacy students and recent graduates preparing to enter professional practice. The session was delivered by Dr. Noura Hamad Alshamsi, medical practitioner and representative of the Ministry Office in Ajman, and Ms. Ghadir O. S. Alsafadi from the Ministry of Health and Prevention, who were accompanied by Dr. Fatima Juma Alaleeli. The speakers shared valuable insights and practical guidance on the pharmacist licensure process in the UAE. The event aimed to equip aspiring pharmacists with practical knowledge of the educational, examination, licensing, and professional practice requirements necessary to build successful careers within the healthcare sector. The session concluded with an interactive discussion, during which the speakers responded to students’ enquiries about pharmacist licensure procedures, training requirements, and the steps required to obtain authorisation to practice pharmacy in the UAE.

Prof. Abeer Al-Ghananeem, Dean of the COPHS, underscored the significance of familiarising students with the regulatory framework and licensure requirements governing pharmacy practice in the UAE. She highlighted that a clear understanding of these requirements plays a vital role in facilitating students’ transition from academia to professional healthcare careers.
