The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (COPHS) at Ajman University do modern teaching and clinical skills evaluation to fill the gap between clinical sites and topics that need improvement such as dealing with narcotics, emergencies, and insurance processing. One such activities was conducted on 1st May 2026, wherein an immersive assessment experience aimed at complementing the experiential learning. The initiative was designed for second-year Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) students currently undertaking their Hospital Pharmacy rotations as a part of their Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience. Leveraging the University’s state-of-the-art immersive simulation room, the assessment placed students in realistic, hospital pharmacy management scenarios.
The session featured four key hospital pharmacy scenarios: hospital pharmacy layout, medication storage requirements including narcotics, inventory management, and health insurance processes. These scenarios were carefully designed to reflect real-life challenges encountered in hospital settings, ensuring students gain practical, hands-on experience before entering professional practice, ensuring their readiness to pharmacy practice.
The assessment activity was coordinated by Dr. Sabrina Ait Gacem, along with the other members of the Office of the Experiential Learning: Dr. Subish Palaian, Dr. Alaa Faragallah, Mr. Ahmed Gaili, Mr. Wahbi Ghaouji, and Ms. Maisaa Shaat.
Dean Prof. Abeer AlGhananeem emphasized the strategic importance of such initiatives, noting, “This aligns with Ajman University’s commitment to adopting innovative educational methodologies and ensuring that our graduates are fully equipped to meet the evolving demands of the healthcare sector in the UAE and beyond. These immersive assessments at COPHS mark a significant step forward in experiential learning, reinforcing the College’s dedication to producing practice-ready pharmacy graduates through advanced, technology-driven education”.
