College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences Hosts Industry-Led Workshop on Cosmetic Science

The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (COPHS) successfully hosted an industry-focused educational event titled “Industry Insights on Cosmetic Science: A Hands‑On Formulation Workshop” on Friday, May 1, 2026. The interactive workshop was designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real‑world industry practices in cosmetic formulation. The session provided students with valuable exposure to hands‑on cosmetic science techniques while highlighting current trends and expectations within the cosmetic and personal care industry.

The workshop was led by Ms. Melis Koklu, Account Manager at Croda Middle East, a globally recognized leader in specialty chemicals and cosmetic ingredients, along with her team, Mr. Mina Ghaly, Ms. Mahasen Tallawi, Mr. Hafiz Asad Ur Rehman and Mr. Abdallah AlShacker. Students experienced the preparation of Perfect Cover Veil Foundation SPF 50, Gel Cream, Naturally Protecting Sun Protection SPF30 and Fresh Burst Face Cream.

Through live demonstrations and interactive discussions, students gained practical insights into formulation development, quality considerations, and innovation in cosmetic science. The session emphasized the importance of industry–academia collaboration in preparing future pharmacists and scientists for professional careers in fast‑growing sectors such as cosmetics and personal care.

Prof. Abeer AlGhananeem, Dean of COPHS, emphasized the ongoing commitment of COPHS to experiential learning, industry engagement, and career‑oriented education. By hosting experts from leading global organizations, the College continues to enhance students’ practical skills and industry readiness in alignment with Ajman University’s educational mission.

The workshop was coordinated by Prof. Sai Boddu, the Head of Pharmaceutical Sciences Program, and it was concluded with enthusiastic participation from students, reinforcing the value of hands‑on learning experiences in shaping future professionals and inspiring innovation in pharmaceutical and cosmetic sciences.
