Nursing Students at College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Promote Breast Cancer Awareness at Al Qassimi Women’s and Children’s Hospital

October 13, 2026: Third-year Bachelor in Nursing students from the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Ajman University participated in an impactful educational initiative at Al Qassimi Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Sharjah. Held in observation of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the outreach effort focused heavily on early detection, disease prevention, and promoting healthy lifestyle habits.  Operating within a real-world clinical environment, the nursing students engaged directly with patients, visitors, and hospital staff. Through informative educational posters and interactive awareness sessions, they delivered vital health messaging centered on regular screenings, recognizing early warning signs, and understanding the life-saving significance of early diagnosis.  The student participation was coordinated by the Nursing Clinical Training Instructors, Ms. Hind Alali and Ms. Hanan.

Beyond benefiting the wider community, this experiential learning activity allowed students to refine essential clinical competencies—including patient communication, interprofessional teamwork, and health education delivery—bridging classroom theory with practical healthcare settings.  This initiative underscores Ajman University's overarching mission to foster experiential learning and community service, equipping future healthcare professionals to drive positive public health outcomes. By championing Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Ajman University continues its proud tradition of advancing healthcare education and cultivating preventive health practices across the UAE.

Dean Prof. Abeer AlGhananeem commented “Engaging directly with patients and the community in a real-world clinical setting provides our nursing students with invaluable experiential learning that cannot be replicated in a classroom alone. By participating in vital public health initiatives like Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our students not only champion preventive care and early detection across the UAE, but also cultivate the essential clinical competencies, compassionate communication, and professional confidence needed to become exceptional future healthcare leaders”

The College extends its appreciation to Al Qassimi Women’s and Children’s Hospital for hosting the initiative, and acknowledges Nursing Clinical Training Instructors Ms. Hind Alali and Ms. Hanan for coordinating student participation.  The students’ participation reflects the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences’ ongoing commitment to developing confident, knowledgeable, and professionally engaged healthcare graduates. It also reinforces Ajman University’s commitment to innovative, practice-oriented education and meaningful engagement with the wider healthcare community.
