The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Holds Stakeholder Meeting to Strengthen Advance Pharmacy Practice Experience

Ajman University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, through its Office of Experiential Learning, successfully hosted the “APPE Stakeholder Meet-2026” on 8 June 2026. The event brought together a distinguished group of stakeholders to review and enhance the Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE), a cornerstone of the Bachelor of Pharmacy program.

The meeting aimed to gather valuable insights on APPE rotations, assessment strategies, daily logs, and experiential learning outcomes. Discussions focused on advancing students’ clinical competencies, refining evaluation methods, and ensuring alignment with the evolving demands of contemporary pharmacy practice and the Outcomes-Based Framework.

The forum convened external pharmacy experts representing leading healthcare institutions across the UAE, alongside faculty members, college preceptors, and student representatives. This diverse participation fostered rich dialogue and collaboration, reinforcing the College’s commitment to continuous improvement in experiential education.

In the opening remarks, Prof. Abeer AlGhananeem, Dean of the College, emphasized the crucial role of stakeholder engagement in sustaining excellence in pharmacy education. She highlighted that insights from practitioners, faculty, and students are instrumental in ensuring that experiential training remains responsive to healthcare sector needs and prepares graduates to meet professional expectations.

Interactive discussions during the meeting explored key areas including the APPE course structure, student preparedness, preceptor support, assessment processes, and opportunities for program enhancement. Participants shared practical insights and proposed constructive recommendations aimed at strengthening experiential learning. Outcomes of the meeting included proposed refinements to experiential learning activities, improvements to daily log requirements, and enhancements in student assessment methods. These recommendations are intended to elevate the quality, relevance, and effectiveness of the APPE program, ensuring alignment with current pharmacy practice standards.

Commenting on the significance of the event, Prof. Abeer AlGhananeem stated: “The APPE Stakeholder Meeting reflects the College’s ongoing commitment to quality assurance, stakeholder engagement, and excellence in experiential pharmacy education. All feedback will be carefully reviewed and integrated into the APPE rotations for the Fall Semester of the 2026–2027 academic year. Through this continuous quality improvement process, Ajman University remains dedicated to preparing competent, practice-ready pharmacists capable of contributing effectively to patient care and the broader healthcare system.”
