Sociology of Women
Course Description
This course explores the cognitive and theoretical contributions of sociology within the field of women studies, the origin and development of this branch of sociology and its concepts. It also provides examples excerpted from sociological or anthropological studies conducted on the topics of women, motherhood, family, the social roles of women and roles within the public life. In addition to the aforementioned, this course explores the topic of women in the media, the topic of women in terms of globalization, and the topic of women in terms of post-modernism. Furthermore, in terms of many of its tackled topics, this course provides examples from studies conducted on women in the United Arab Emirates. It also draws comparisons in terms of the status of women in various societies.
