Parenting Skills in Raising Children

 

            The Psychology Department, in collaboration with the Communications Committee of the College of Humanities and Sciences at Ajman University, organized a lecture titled "Parenting Skills in Raising Children," presented by Ms. Moza Salem Al Shoumi, a board member of the Awareness and Care Society for Juveniles. The lecture covered various parenting skills that every parent should possess to provide proper upbringing for their children, preparing them for the future. These skills include goal setting in education, seeking knowledge, protection and safety, assigning responsibility, using the language of love, observation, communication and dialogue, effective listening, patience, maximizing positives, setting priorities, and self-control in the face of excessive emotions.

Ms. Moza Al Shoumi emphasized understanding the needs and behaviors of children, handling them according to their developmental, psychological, and cognitive characteristics, and building a positive and secure relationship with them through guidance and positive behavioral control. The Awareness and Care Society for Juveniles offers effective programs for all age groups, from early childhood to adolescence, consider each stage and its requirements.

Dr. Rasha Abdul Rahman, Head of the Psychology Department at Ajman University, expressed her appreciation to Ms. Moza Al Shoumi and the organizers of the educational programs at the society for their effective and prominent awareness role in serving the targeted audience. The workshop included several engaging and beneficial experiences, showcasing Ms. Moza's excellence in delivering content and effective methods of communicating with children and setting constructive relationships with them. The workshop witnessed significant interaction among university students, exchanging ideas and experiences, adding a social and interactive dimension to the workshop.
