Workshop on Environmental Psychology and Sustainable Development: Expansion, Maturation, and Challenge

The Counseling Unit, in collaboration with the Psychology Department, organized a workshop in celebration of Environmental Psychology Day on October 23, 2023. The workshop took place from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

A student meeting was held, during which a presentation titled "Be a Leader for Change" was delivered by psychology students. Additionally, three workshops were conducted on various topics as follows:

  1. Establishing a Volunteer Team - Dr. Saif Musa.
  2. Social and Cultural Influences on Environmental Behavior - Dr. Zahra Edis.
  3. Exploring the Relationship Between Mental Health and the Environment - Dr. Anastasia Spaska.

These workshops aimed to familiarize attendees with the importance of understanding environmental psychology in various fields, including education, healthcare, consultation, and more. The workshops demonstrated that individuals are integral parts of their environment, and vice versa. Emphasizing how humans interact with their environment and think about it is essential in the fight against climate change.

Consequently, environmental psychology, which focuses on how humans relate to their external world, plays a crucial role in ensuring a sustainable future for our planet. The attendees gained awareness of the significance of environmental psychology and its impact on their lives. The workshops highlighted the importance of preserving the environment and how to positively engage and interact with it.
