College of Humanities and Sciences Hosts Successful Community Event on Air Pollution

The Environment, Health, and Safety Committee of the College of Humanities and Sciences organized an engaging awareness lecture on "Indoor and Outdoor Air Pollutants and Their Risks" on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Ajman University. The event attracted a diverse audience, including faculty members, students, staff, and the college's student environmental ambassadors, fostering meaningful discussions on air quality and public health.

Dr. Ahmed Abdul Sattar, Head of the Environment, Health, and Safety Committee, delivered an insightful presentation on the various sources of air pollution, both indoors and outdoors, and their potential health risks. The session provided attendees with valuable knowledge on recognizing common pollutants and adopting preventative measures to minimize exposure.

The event was attended by Prof. Fares Howari, Dean of the College of Humanities and Sciences, and Dr. Atef AbdElKader, Head of the Mathematics and Science Department. The student environmental ambassadors actively engaged in the discussion, raising critical questions about campus-wide initiatives to improve air quality and reduce exposure to harmful pollutants.

"Understanding air quality is essential for maintaining good health," Dr. Sattar emphasized. "Both indoor and outdoor pollutants can have significant short- and long-term effects on well-being."

As part of its ongoing commitment to promoting a healthier campus environment, the Environment, Health, and Safety Committee plans to organize similar awareness sessions throughout the semester. Additionally, Mr. Ouazir Salem will coordinate an interdisciplinary session on the health impacts of air pollution, further expanding the discussion on environmental and public health.
