Psychology Department Hosts Specialized Workshop on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Master's Students

The Department of Psychology at the College of Humanities and Sciences, Ajman University, organized a specialized two-day training workshop on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for students enrolled in the Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology program. The workshop was held on 18–19 July 2026 and was delivered by Dr. Wahba Hassanein, Head of the Psychology Unit at the Department of Psychiatry, Emirates Health Services.

The workshop provided students with a comprehensive introduction to the theoretical foundations and core principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, one of the most evidence-based approaches in contemporary clinical practice. Participants were introduced to the structure of CBT sessions, essential therapeutic techniques, case conceptualization, and intervention planning.

To bridge theory and practice, the workshop incorporated interactive case discussions, practical exercises, and role-playing activities that enabled students to apply CBT techniques in simulated clinical scenarios under expert guidance. These activities enhanced students' clinical reasoning, communication skills, and confidence in conducting therapeutic sessions.

The workshop also fostered meaningful discussions on real-world clinical challenges, encouraging students to critically reflect on best practices in psychological assessment and intervention.

Students expressed high satisfaction with the workshop, highlighting its practical value, interactive format, and relevance to their future clinical practice. The initiative reflects the Department of Psychology's commitment to providing high-quality experiential learning opportunities and strengthening collaboration with leading healthcare professionals and institutions, ensuring that graduates are well prepared to meet the evolving needs of the mental health profession.
