Abstract

A shortage of sufficient parking spaces and improper use of existing parking spaces are the norms in universities causing traffic congestion and slowdowns as well as unhappy users. The suggested University Parking Reservation System via the web allows students and university staff as well as guests to pre-reserve parking slots which simplifies their search for parking spaces hence smooth flow of traffic within the campus. PHP is used for server-side operations and MySQL for DB tasks by the system while HTML/CSS/JavaScript is used for creating its responsive interface.

Before the applicability of role-based access management, the user account authenticates on the basis of university addresses. Once the user is authenticated, he or she can access the accounts, but she or he can then register both vehicle and personal inputs followed by selection of available parking spots based on real time data which leads to confirmation of slot through email instantaneously. The system keeps real time listing of vacant spots to prevent cases of unauthorized booking as well as a spamming system.

The system offers comparative advantages in efficiency over the conventional approaches and also enhances user control along with better utilization of resources around the entire campus. UML use case and activity diagrams are implemented in the project to show system architecture and workflow procedures. Extension of this system with additional features will take into account mobile applications and automatic real-time sensor monitoring as well as the capabilities for artificial intelligence-based demand forecasting. The designed system addresses economically viable solutions quite peculiar to the specific needs of educational organizations
