Abstract

A web-based platform called HDSS was created to address the growing digital divide in education and the effects of electronic waste on the environment at the same time. With the help of this program, people and organizations can donate their unused computers through a centralized, user-friendly system. The laptops are then reconditioned and sent to underfunded schools in Africa and other poor nations.

Donors can simply register their devices on the portal, follow the refurbishment process, and get delivery status updates. Refurbishment partners can provide real-time repair status updates, and educational institutions can register to obtain computers. The implemented technology ensures efficiency and transparency throughout the donation cycle by matching given devices with recipient schools according to geography, need, and condition.

The organization makes sure that all donated laptops fulfill quality criteria before they are delivered to schools by working with renowned electronics merchants like Sharaf DG and Jumbo and receiving financial and logistical help from the UAE government. Additionally, the platform incorporates feedback and monitoring tools, allowing stakeholders to continue to actively participate in the impact they produce.

Quality Education, Responsible Consumption and Production, and Partnerships for the Goals are just a few of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that HDSS directly promotes. In addition to reducing electronic waste, this effort gives future generations access to digital education by repurposing technology to improve learning opportunities.
