| Abstract |
Parking at Ajman University’s campus has become challenging because the number of vehicles has grown while parking spaces remain limited. SpotOn is a web-based smart parking reservation system designed to ease this problem. It allows students and staff to reserve a campus parking spot in advance. Users can see in real-time which spots are available and book one before they arrive. Each reservation generates a unique QR code that the driver can use to prove their booking. We built SpotOn using modern tools and cloud services. The backend and database run on Supabase (an open-source Firebase alternative), and we used AI-assisted coding tools (Lovable.dev and Cursor) to speed up development. The system lets users instantly book or cancel a spot and includes an admin interface for managing parking inventory. We followed an Agile development process, creating a working prototype early and refining it based on feedback. Initial testing showed that SpotOn can significantly cut down the time students and staff spend searching for parking and generally improve the campus parking experience. Overall, our project demonstrates a proof-of-concept for a smart reservation-based parking solution that could be expanded for full-scale use at Ajman University. |
