As part of the UAE’s Month of Reading in March, the Department of Languages and Culture at the College of Humanities organized a Reading Salon under the "UAE Reads" initiative. The event, titled "UAE Reads Chekhov," was led by Dr. Bilal Zakarneh and brought students together to read and discuss excerpts from the works of famous Russian writer Anton Chekhov.
Students explored Chekhov’s storytelling style and themes, discussing why his works are still relevant today. The event encouraged a love for reading and helped students understand world literature better.
It is worth mention that the Department of Languages and Culture is organizing more events from Monday, March 17, to Wednesday, March 19, to continue promoting reading and literary engagement:
Reading Station – A designated area will be set up at the university to encourage reading.
Book Donation – A special space will be available for students and faculty to donate books and share knowledge.
Creative Writing Workshop – Ms. Nouf Alnuaimi, author of Suitors for Sheikha, will lead a workshop for the Ajman University community. She will guide participants through the fundamentals of writing a book, covering idea generation, research, outlining, and writing schedules.
These initiatives support the UAE’s vision to promote reading and creative expression. Stay connected with the Department of Languages and Culture for more updates!
